Pugot Mamu

Pugot mamu may be the most well-known Philippine boogeyman from the Pampanga region. It is a headless being, like the more famous Pugot, with a few major differences. The Pugot is said to be the spirit of a beheaded priest and only scares people, while the Pugot Mamu is flesh and bone, with an insatiable appetite for children. In my rendition of Pugot Mamu, I wanted to keep the humanoid aspect of its form whilst changing some parts of its anatomy, increasing the lengths of its arm to grab the children hiding underneath and adding demonic feet to intensify its inhumanity, predatory, and fiendish qualities of the Pugot Mamu.
